RAMONE ARCHIE, '94

 Ramone A. Archie Belmont High School Alumni class of 1994 I played football and ran track for Belmont from my sophomore year to my senior year. My senior year in football I was named Northern Conference Player of the year as while as being voted team MVP by my fellow players and coaches. I was also the Octagon Belmont Male Athlete of the year. I finished off my senior year by being voted Prom King. After graduating from Belmont High School in 1994 I enrolled at Glendale Community College in the Winter of 1995. While attending GCC I participated on the Vaquero football team. In my two years playing running back for the Vaqueros I climbed into the top 10 of the career rushing leaders at the school while earning all conference honors both years. At the conclusion of my sophomore year I was awarded the “Cardinal and Gold” award given to the sophomore who has shown loyalty and dedication to the program for two years. After concluding my time at GCC I was fortunate enough to earn a full scholarship to The University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. While there I was moved from the offensive side of the ball to the play strong safety. After red shirting one year I became the starting safety for my next two years. I was also named to an all conference team in both of those years. I was also honored to represent my team as a Defensive Captain my senior year. After graduating with a BA in history I ventured into the world of teaching and coaching. I was lucky enough to land in a program that was about to make Texas Football history. I was apart of a staff that coached in 4 straight state championship games between the years of 2000 and 2004. Winning two in a row in 2001 and 2002. Our staff was also fortunate enough to be the first High School Football teams to play live on ESPN on Thursday Night Football. My coaching career continued to the Division I level in 2006 when I was offered a position at my alma mater, The University of North Texas, to coach running backs. After coaching there one year I came back to the High School level where I am currently coaching. I’ve been fortunate enough to enjoy some things outside of sports also. My family was a contestant on the Family Feud Game show where we won $10,000 and I have three beautiful children. Ethan Ramone Archie (5) , Victoria Denise Archie and Tristan Antjuan Archie (4 year old boy/girl twins). I owe much of my success to my life experiences at Belmont High School and the lessons I was taught by my coaches Robert Levy, John Zunino, and John Orendorf. Once a Sentinel always a Sentinel!
