COMMISSIONER BARBARA FIEGE

 Barbara Fiege is the former Director of Interscholastic Athletics for Los Angeles Unified School District. She oversaw the competitive athletics program for over 100 schools. Barbara began her career as a physical education teacher at Dorsey High School in 1975. She has coached varsity and junior varsity basketball, softball and volleyball. In 1986, she became the Athletic Director for Belmont High School, the first woman in LAUSD history to hold that position. As one of nine children, she learned the value of sports participation early and has been a strong advocate of equity in sports for many years.
